Testing Barcode Scanners

Testing Barcode Scanners

When you say, supermarket app, you say, barcode scanning.

In the past couple of years we have been working on apps for some of our retail clients quite a bit. While doing so we have also worked with and worked on quite a few barcode scanning solutions too.

Part of our job is to test it on several performance indicators, like recognition speed, scan dimensions (QR, barcodes, etc.), and interoperability with other systems or SDKs. Recently we’ve performed a number of tests on a variety of scan engines, free and licensed ones, both in native and not native setups. Digimarc, Honeywell, Scandit, Zebra and of course the OS-internal scanners, are amongst the scan engines tested.

In other words, we’ve have a good look at them in the native environments (such as Java and Swift) and in apps build with tools like Xamarin and Cordova.

If you’re interested in using a barcode scanner in your app and want to know our findings, drop us a note, or give us a call!
